Intervals / CHIMES |
|
Our past has
prepared us. In
1947, a group of
Baltimore
parents decided
they could not
accept the lack
of educational
opportunities
for their
children who had
mental
retardation.
They founded a
school, based on
their belief
that each child
had the right to
reach the
highest possible
level of
functioning.
They borrowed
space in a
church, and they
called their
vision The
School of the
Chimes after the
message of hope
they heard in
the church bells |
